Death Stranding 2: On the Beach: Hostile Territory Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

In Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Hostile Territory marks the camps of two distinct enemy factions standing between Sam and a fully connected world.

There are 11 Hostile Territory locations in total — 3 Bandit Bases in Mexico and 8 Armed Hostile camps across Australia. All have been included on our Death Stranding 2 interactive maps.

Bandits: Mexico's Non-Lethal Threat

Mexico's hostile faction operates under the Bandit name — a survival-driven group that steals cargo using exclusively non-lethal weapons, replacing the MULE faction from the original Death Stranding entirely.

Bandits prioritise survival over the obsessive cargo fixation that defined MULEs, but remain just as relentless once a porter is spotted carrying valuable goods.

Interestingly, postboxes inside Mexico's Bandit camps are still labelled with MULE markings — a lore detail hinting that at least one MULE crossed into Mexico from the original game's territory before the sequel's events.

Armed Hostiles: Australia's Lethal Resistance

Australia's hostile camps are populated by Brigands, also called Armed Survivalists — a faction fundamentally different in both tactics and motivation from Mexico's Bandits.

Armed Hostiles use lethal firearms without hesitation and are ideologically opposed to the expansion of the Chiral Network itself, actively resisting Sam's mission rather than merely targeting his cargo for survival.

Engaging Armed Hostiles is significantly more dangerous than Bandit encounters in Mexico, given the lethal force at play.

How to Avoid or Engage Hostile Territory

Cargo carried through Hostile Territory can be detected by enemy sensors calibrated to pick up cargo ID tags — entering a camp without any cargo equipped often avoids detection entirely.

For players who prefer to push through rather than sneak around, several Main Order deliveries route directly through Bandit or Armed Hostile territory, occasionally overlapping with separate Ghost Mech patrols controlled by Higgs's cult — a third, mechanical threat distinct from both human factions and capable of significantly higher damage output.

Materials and Risk-Reward

Hostile camps typically guard valuable crafting materials — Ceramics, Metals, Special Alloys, and Resin — making a successful infiltration worthwhile despite the risk.

Camps in Mexico are generally lower-risk thanks to the non-lethal nature of Bandit weaponry, while Australia's Armed Hostile camps demand more careful planning given the lethal threat and the potential for permanent loss of progress if Sam is killed mid-delivery.
